I am an AKC Collie puppy! My Mom is Sue. I was born on June 27th and I will be ready for my forever home on August 22nd! I have been family raised on a mini farm in the country around children. I have had my shots and de-wormers. I have been checked by a veterinarian. For more information or to schedule a visit with me, please contact Martha Monday through Saturday. All Sunday calls will be returned on Monday.
Collies are a storied and affectionate herding-type breed that originated in the rugged landscapes of Scotland and Northern England. Medium to large in size, they typically stand between 22 and 26 inches tall and weigh from about 50 to 75 pounds, with slight variation between males and females.
Characterized by their elegant wedge-shaped heads, pointed snouts, and expressive almond-shaped eyes, Collies present in two coat varieties—Rough (long, flowing double coat) and Smooth (shorter, dense coat). Their color palette includes sable‑and‑white, tricolor, blue merle, and white.
Intelligence and loyalty define the Collie temperament. Famous for their gentle, devoted nature and keen sensitivity to human emotions, they're highly trainable and excel in a variety of roles—from family companion to herder, therapy, and agility dog. Collies form deep bonds with their families and are especially good with children when properly socialized.
Collies thrive with both mental and physical stimulation. They benefit greatly from daily exercise—at least 45 to 80 minutes—and enjoy activities like herding, agility, obedience, and tracking. Indoors, they tend to be calm and affectionate.
Cultural legacy is another strong suit—Collies achieved fame through literature and film, notably “Lassie,” which captured hearts worldwide and showcased the breed’s intelligence and loyalty. Their longstanding popularity owes much to royal patronage (like that of Queen Victoria).
